Georgia: Charles Pace Named Director of Gwinnett County Public Library

Charles Pace, the former leader of the county library system in St. Louis, Mo., will be Gwinnett’s new library director.

The system’s board of trustees appointed Pace during a specially called meeting Friday, agreeing to a $125,000 annual salary for the new leader, a replacement for Nancy Stanbery-Kellam, who was ousted in June.

Pace is expected to begin work the first week of January.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Pace’s resignation in July came as a surprise, not long after voters approved the first tax increase for the library system in 30 years.

Reached via telephone [last] Friday evening, Pace declined to give specifics about his departure but said he was looking forward to a new challenge in Gwinnett, a system he has heard about since its 2000 win for Library of the Year.
