UPDATE November 19, 2021: Full Dump of the OpenAlex Dataset (Beta Release), the Microsoft Academic Graph Replacement From OurResearch, NOW AVAILABLE!; Official Release Set For January 3, 2021

Via Email From Jason Priem and Heather Piwowar at Our Research:

Hi all! Just a quick note to let you know that we’ll be releasing the full dump of the OpenAlex dataset next week, as well as a bunch of documentation. This will give y’all a chance to test out your import workflows and make sure everything is working before our official launch on January 1, 2022.

If you’re using MAG now: we’ve worked hard to make sure everything in OpenAlex is backwards-compatible with MAG, so the transition should be quite smooth. But if you’re counting on this data, we recommend starting to test things out now, in case there are surprises.

Keep in mind that will be a beta release, and so there’ll inevitably be some teething problems with the data–we recommend you do *not* use this data in a production setting until the official Jan 1 release.

We’re making good progress with the two REST APIs, but those are not yet ready for beta release…this will only be the data dump.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!
