Thousands of Ideas Shared by Librarians From Around the World Now Available on the IFLA Global Vision Ideas Store

August 26, 2019 by Gary Price

From International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA):

The IFLA Global Vision Ideas Store now hosts thousands of ideas shared by librarians from all over the world. It is a dynamic resource for ideas and actions, the result of the contributions of library and information professionals worldwide. It provides a unique source of inspiration for the strategic and daily work of librarians everywhere, and a proof of how libraries, working together, can go further.

The IFLA Ideas Store is the culmination of a global consultation process that IFLA undertook through its Global Vision project. Since 2017, over 30,000 people from 190 UN Member States have shared their opinions about the challenges that libraries face. To date, over 8,500 ideas have been shared.

The ideas are there to inspire you to bring about change in your community, offer better services, strengthen your library association, and to support delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

From advocacy actions to steps to address community needs, from technological and digital transformation to changing behaviours and developing young leaders, the ideas can inspire you to action. These actions will be key to delivering on the new IFLA Strategy 2019-2024.

On the Ideas Store, you’ll also find our Wall of Fame, which is a simple way to recognise and celebrate the ideas, effort, time, energy of the library and information professionals, library associations and institutions and library supporters around the world who have made the Global Vision a truly global conversation. Your contributions are making the Ideas Store a unique storehouse of inspirational ideas available to all librarians around the world!
