UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO) Publishes New Guidance to Support Responsible AI Use in Research
From the UKRIO:
We’re pleased to announce the release of Embracing AI with integrity, a new guidance document from the UK Research Integrity Office (UKRIO).
This guidance uses research integrity principles to support researchers in using AI tools responsibly. It provides clear, actionable advice for those using AI tools for writing, data analysis, prediction, and other research tasks, with a focus on five key integrity risk areas: legal compliance, ethical concerns, the integrity of the research record, publication practices, and impacts on creativity and critical thinking.
The guidance is designed for researchers at all career stages, as well as research leaders and organisations. It addresses the growing need — highlighted in our 2024 stakeholder survey — for consistent and practical advice as AI becomes more embedded in the research process.
