A New Book From IFLA: “Libraries Driving Education for Sustainable Development”; Open Access Edition Available
From the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA):
The Environment, Sustainability and Libraries Section, ENSULIB, is proud to announce the publication of its new book, Libraries Driving Education for Sustainable Development. This is number 186 in the IFLA Publications Series, and is published open access.
The world is facing urgent and dramatic environmental, social and economic challenges. The focus for change is through the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 agenda. Education for sustainable development (ESD) is UNESCO’s response to fostering personal and societal transformation required for a successful future. Libraries and librarians are well positioned to drive the educational processes required. This book brings together successful initiatives on ESD sustainable development from libraries across the world to provide exemplars and inspiration for others.
From the DeGruyter Brill Website:
The book refers to the UNESCO’s ESD for 2030 education program. Libraries, especially green and sustainable libraries, deserve prominent recognition as learning institutions and active driving partners for Education for Sustainable Development and which support their governments’ sustainability efforts. In line with the Berlin Declaration on ESD and the UNESCO program, the book focuses on innovative approaches and informal education projects, created and provided by green and sustainable libraries.
