ALISE (Association for Library and Information Science Education) Releases “2024 Statistical Report: Library and Information Science Education Trends and Key Indicators”

This report presents an overview of the current state of library and information science education in the US and Canada and highlights several notable trends the data exhibit over time. ALISE annually collects data from its institutional members in these categories: faculty and staff, students, curriculum, and income and expenditures.
The data upon which this narrative report is based were collected in fall 2023. 59 schools contributed data to this year’s report.
The complete dataset, except for confidential salary and school-specific personnel data, is available for ALISE member download on the ALISE website: alise.org.
New analyses of the data this year include:
• Maximum enrollment in ALA-accredited courses
• ALA-Accredited Student Achievement Data (retention rate, time to degree completion,
• percentage employed within 12 months of graduation) • Summer term offerings
• Travel expenditures
ALISE acknowledges the Wayne State University School of Information Sciences for providing and supporting the data collection system that captures the statistical data contained in this report
