Happy World Digital Preservation Day 2022! Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) Launches “Digital Preservation for Small Businesses: An Introductory Guide” & Releases New Revision of BitList of Digitally Endangered Species
From the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC):
Continuing the theme Data For All, For Good, Forever from another celebration – iPres 2022 – World Digital Preservation Day showcases how digital preservation enables digits to flourish.
“Data For All, For Good, Forever is a chance to connect practitioners and supporters in celebrating the positive impact digital preservation has had across all parts of our global communities and societies,” explains Sarah Middleton, DPC Head of Advocacy and Community Engagement. “This could be in sustaining our collections or environments, supporting communities, exchanging information and ideas, enabling innovation or resilience.”
Organized by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and supported by digital preservation networks around the globe, World Digital Preservation Day is open to participation across all regions and sectors, from anyone interested in securing a sustainable future for our digital assets. Data creators, curators, and consumers from around the world are invited to showcase how their own digital preservation activities Let Digits Flourish through blog posts, social media posts, events and creative activities, sharing with the online community with the hashtag #WDPD2022.
As part of the World Digital Preservation Day program the digital preservation community can also expect the release of the iPres 2022 proceedings, a new revision of the BitList of Digitally Endangered Species as well as translations of DPC resources and some brand-new resources. Check the DPC website and @dpc_chat on Twitter throughout the day for updates on these exciting releases!

Digital Preservation for Small Businesses: An Introductory Guide Launched
The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce the launch of Digital Preservation for Small Businesses: An Introductory Guide which is available on general release this World Digital Preservation Day!
Digital information plays a central role in most aspects of all our lives and running a small business is no exception. Important information that would once have been produced on paper is now created, shared and maintained digitally.
Created for the Archives and Records Council Wales, supported by The National Library of Wales and funded by The National Archives Covid-19 Archives Fund, this introductory guide focuses on common sense management of digital information and highlights actions which can be incorporated into the day-to-day working practices of small businesses. And while the guide was written with small businesses in mind, it will be helpful for any small-medium organization interested in starting to better manage their digital information for the longer term.
