Data Tools: National Center For Education Statistics (NCES) Releases New Version of DataLab and PowerStats
From the DataLab Website
DataLab is a platform of web-based tools that provide the public with access to data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). DataLab is for researchers, reporters, policy makers, school administrators, students, or anyone interested in education in the United States.
The Tables Library application is an online repository of over 8,000 data tables published by NCES that users can search to answer critical questions about education across the nation. To use the Tables Library, click the icon in the navigation tray and search for data tables by keyword or by using the filters.
The PowerStats application provides access to over 100 NCES datasets and, through an interactive online interface, empowers users to generate custom statistical analyses and data visualizations. To use PowerStats, choose a dataset from the DataLab or PowerStats homepage and click the orange launch button.
What’s New
A new version of DataLab, including an updated and improved PowerStats, is now available. The new DataLab improves the ease-of-use and performance of PowerStats; incorporates the charting functions of QuickStats into PowerStats; allows users to create data visualizations in PowerStats; and integrates the trending functionality of TrendStats into PowerStats.
