Dr Carla Hayden is the first woman and the first African American to lead the national library of the United States as the 14th Librarian of Congress. Join her and the British Library’s Chief Executive, Roly Keating, as they discuss perspectives from within the world’s two largest libraries.
Hear them touch upon stewardship of national collections, the role of the national library, and their respective leadership journeys. Carla Hayden was sworn in Librarian of Congress on September 14 2016. Roly Keating has been Chief Executive of the British Library since September 2012, joining after a long career at the BBC, where his roles included Controller of BBC Two, Controller of BBC Four and Director of Archive Content, with editorial oversight of the BBC’s online services including BBC iPlayer.
