National Library of the Netherlands (KB), Others Launch “Library as a Third Learning Environment” Pilot
Within the framework of the Equal Opportunities agenda of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the KB, Lek & IJssel Library and Venlo Library have started a pilot in which the library is positioned as a rich learning environment for children and young people in vulnerable.

With the pilot, the aforementioned parties want to investigate how the library can fulfill that role and which preconditions and facilities are needed to position the library as the rich learning environment for children and young people who have difficulty learning at home. This may be because there is insufficient opportunity or support at home, but it can also mean that children or young people need homework or study guidance that their parents cannot afford. That is why the pilot focuses on these children and young people as well as on their parents.
