Texas Southern University will break ground on a new library on Thursday morning.
Books will occupy parts of two of five stories in the new library. Staff members have weeded out 40,000 books as they prepare to move, said Janice Peyton, executive director of TSU’s library, looking at how frequently and recently they have been taken out.
From Texas Southern:
Construction of the $43 million building has a distinctive design and is expected to be completed in summer 2019. The library will span 137,000 square-feet and stand five stories.
The University’s distance and online education divisions, administrative offices, support services and a board room will be housed in the new center.
