Partnerships: Public Libraries: San Antonio Public Library Opens New Branch Inside YMCA Facility
From the San Antonio Express-News:
Residents of San Antonio City Council District 6 have a new site where they can go to exercise their minds and bodies.
The city recently unveiled the Mays Family YMCA and Potranco Branch Public Library at 8764 Highway 151. It’s the city’s first branch library within a YMCA. The Northwest Side facility was built with $4 million from the 2012-2017 bond project to serve the growing Alamo Ranch community.

Ramiro Salazar, director of the San Antonio Public Library, said the San Antonio Public Library continues to innovate and respond to the expectations of the public by creating libraries that reflect the needs of the community. Salazar said the Potranco Branch Library’s service model is especially unique because it is co-located within a YMCA, which will make it more convenient for the public to access two types of services in one location.
This is the 29th library in the SA Public Library System.
