June 2, 2016 by Gary Price

Media Source is the parent company of Library Journal, School Library Journal, The Horn Book, and Junior Library Guild.
From the Media Source Announcement:

2016-06-02_12-40-11Media Source, Inc. a leader in collection development and library management solutions, today announced that Victor F. Ganzi has been named Chairman of its Board of Directors. The former Chief Executive Officer of Hearst Corporation, Mr. Ganzi is a New York City native and a seasoned executive who has chaired and served on more than 20 public, private, and non-profit boards.
“Vic offers a depth and breadth of experience typically unavailable to a middle market company like Media Source. Media Source is a portfolio company of The Vistria Group, LLC,  a Chicago-based private equity firm specializing in mid-market buyouts in education, health care, and financial services. Mr. Ganzi is an Operating Partner for Vistria.
“I am very excited to help the leadership team at Media Source continue its unparalleled customer service and strong growth by stepping into the Chairman role,” Mr. Ganzi said. “The company delivers tremendous value to collection development and library management professionals, who are among its many enthusiastic customers. I have followed the company for years and am energized by the culture, growth opportunities and strategic relationships Media Source has developed. I hope my experience running one of the world’s largest media companies combined with my long-standing partnership with Vistria will be an asset to the company and its employees.”
“Media Source is a unique platform that enables librarians and teachers to inspire children and young adults to read consistent with our mission to produce better outcomes for young children. We believe that the library will continue to be a very important agent in the movement to user-centered learning,” said Vistria’s Philip Alphonse, who is also a board member at Media Source. “Supporting librarians’ and teachers’ engagement of young readers is what the Media Source team is all about, and we are excited to partner with Vic to further build the team’s offering.”
