Australia: “Libraries Teach Next Generation Of Innovators and Entrepreneurs On Fraser Coast”

Children as young as eight are learning coding and robotics at Hervey Bay and Maryborough libraries in Queensland’s south-east.
Fraser Coast Libraries children’s and youth services librarian Jenny Campbell said children from the age of 8 to 14 were meeting each week to learn how to program small robots as part of an eight-week course.

The Queensland Government will be supporting libraries across the state to get on board with teaching coding and robotics.
Innovation Minister Leeanne Enoch announced last month funding of $200,000 for public libraries and Indigenous knowledge centres in Queensland to support coding and robotics demonstrations, and education sessions.
