Philippines: “National Library Modernization Pushed”

Under the proposed “National Library of the Philippines Modernization Act,” the NLP shall have seven divisions, each headed by a division chief who shall develop and implement plans and programs for the division.
The seven divisions are the Reader Service Division (RSD), the Digital Library Services (DLS), Technical Services Division (TSD), the Information Technology Division (ITD), the Copyright Division, the Public Libraries Division and the Finance and Administrative Division.
The RSD is in charge of providing information, reference, and research services and resources to library users. It shall also maintain the reading room services and other library materials in the NLP.
The DLS, on the other hand, is in charge of providing non-traditional information services to readers. The division will be composed of two sections, the Differently Abled Services Section and the Multimedia Section.
