New Online: 2014 Indiana Public Library Statistics Released By State Library

These documents replace the publication, Statistics of Indiana Public Libraries, which is no longer printed by the Library Development Office of the Indiana State Library.
Statistics of Indiana Public Libraries 2014 is available on the web, as the official publication of statistics. All files can be downloaded and manipulated using Microsoft Excel.

Some Highlights

• 57% – Percentage of Hoosiers that are library cardholders.
• 35,531,584  – Library visits (a 4% decrease from 2013).
• 77,179,390 – Items circulated by Indiana public libraries.
• 91% – Increase in eBook holdings in 2014. eBook usage also increased by 35%, with eBooks now comprising 14% of all circulations.
• 17% – Increase in Private and Public Foundation grants received.
• 26 – Number of bookmobiles remaining statewide (a 10% decrease from 2013).
• $14.52 – $20.98 – Average hourly salary range for a General Reference or Adult librarian.
• 1,434 – The number of librarians employed in Indiana public libraries (40 hour FTE, includes ALA MLS and other)
