Archives of Author William Golding Gifted to University of Exeter
From the Western Morning News:
The archives of a renowned Cornish writer are being gifted to a Devon university to mark the 60th anniversary of his most influential book.
First published in 1954, William Golding’s classic novel, Lord of the Flies has gone on to inspire numerous film and stage adaptations, as well as becoming a staple on reading lists in schools around the world. And in celebration of its enduring popularity, the author’s daughter, Judy Golding, has decided to entrust a collection of her father’s manuscripts – including a draft of Lord of the Flies – to the University of Exeter.
“We wanted the papers to be carefully preserved and kept safe, as we believe they will be at the University of Exeter,” Ms Golding said.
