Japan: English Language Interface to National Diet Library’s Current Awareness Portal Now Available
From the National Diet Library:
Since its launch in 2006, Current Awareness Portal (CA) has aggregated wide variety of news on libraries around the world as well as library and information science.
The Portal has published these news in Japanese as a quarterly journal (CA), email magazines (CA-E), and blog articles (CA-R). All of these contents, as well as research conducted and published by the NDL on library, are available on this portal site as “current awareness service” for librarians and other information professionals.
In organizing this portal, we have accumulated articles related to Japanese libraries. Some of these are now translated into English and are disseminated through a new English interface.
The first group of English contents are the translated version of series of our email magazine (CA-E) titled “Status of Libraries in the Aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake” (through 25 April, 2013). Currently released are 15 articles, and we plan to upload more in the near future. These reports help our understanding on the recovery process of affected libraries after the disaster, as was described in NDL report published in March 2012.
We also have plans to upload contents on other topics.
