Kansas: Wichita Library Seeking $3.2 Million In Overdue Fees
From KAKE-TV:
The Wichita Public Library is looking for users who have left $3.2 million in unpaid library fees over the past quarter century.
“Those fees really reflect materials that are no longer available for other customers to use. So, our goal is always to get material back,” said Cynthia Berner Harris, director of libraries for Wichita Public Library.
For the last three years, the library has seen $780,298.06 in outstanding fees that remain unpaid. For 25 years, the running total is $3,239,937.22.
“It would be useful not only for the library, it would be useful for the City at a time when budgets are difficult,” said Berner Harris.
