Reference: ProPublica Releases Non-Profit Explorer Database (Form 990 Filings)
Another 990 database to know about and make use of. The database contains data about 616,000 tax-exempt organizations.
From the Database:
Nonprofit Explorer includes nonprofit tax return data released by the IRS in April 2013 for tax returns processed by the IRS during 2012. This generally consists of filings for the 2011 fiscal year, but may include older records. The IRS data release includes only a subset of what can be found in the full Form 990s. Wherever possible, we’ve linked to PDFs of the full 990 for each organization, some going back ten years, collected at public.resource.org.
[Clip]
Nonprofit Explorer has organizations claiming tax exemption in each of the 27 subsections of the 501(c) section of the tax code, and which have filed either Form 990 or Form 990EZ. It does not yet include organizations that file a form 990PF (private foundations) but we’ll release an update soon that will do so.
