Minnesota: Washington County Libraries Now Offering Ebooks by Local Authors
Note: Washington County, MN Libraries is taking part in a program we first mentioned in this post on August 25th.
From TwinCities.com/St. Paul Pioneer Press:
With electronic books and e-lending growing in popularity, it seemed a natural fit for Washington County libraries to expand their digital collection of independent Minnesota authors and publishers and works about Minnesota.
Authors must apply to the program, and library officials review and select qualified submissions.
So far, about 13 books have been approved by library officials, who hope to garner a couple hundred.
Library officials see the project as a win-win.
Authors “appreciate the fact the library is offering this way to be discovered, and we appreciate the fact we’re getting local books that may be of interest to our readers and that we’re being supportive of our local writing community,” said Joe Manion, public services division manager for the Washington County Library.
