Video Presentation: Laura Dawson on “Integrating Metadata into the Publishing Process”

May 7, 2012 by Gary Price

Two months ago we shared this interview with metadata expert and Content Chief at Firebrand Technologies Laura Dawson.
The interview took place right before her presentation at the BookNet Canada Technology Conference.
Now, a video of Laura’s presentation is available (free) online.
Librarians will benefit by understanding how publishers view, use, and implement metadata. Plus, as more and more libraries become publishers Dawson’s comments have additional value.
View the Video Online (via BookNet Canada)
It runs about 14 1/2 minutes.
Here’s the Presentation Description:

Good workflow equals good metadata. In an agile publishing environment, good workflow relies on a single source of truth – a repository of information that is added, updated and managed by the people who know most about the products at the time they know it. Laura Dawson will walk through the publishing process from acquisition to final sale, demonstrating the output of metadata at each stage of the process. Metadata is not meant to be in only one person’s hands. Learn how to when and how to involved the whole organization in metadata creation and management to ensure your books find their readers.
