New HathiTrust Member: Lafayette College Becomes First Liberal Arts School to Join Organization

June 15, 2011 by Gary Price

From a Lafayette College Announcement:

Lafayette College [located in Easton, PA] has become the first liberal arts college to join HathiTrust, a cooperative of academic and research libraries seeking to preserve and provide access to the published record in digital form.

“Lafayette’s membership in HathiTrust is an investment in the preservation of our own collections as well as a commitment to the larger effort to build a digital archive that’s co-owned and managed by academic institutions,” said Neil McElroy, Dean of Libraries & Information Technology Services.

John Wilkin, Executive Director of HathiTrust, said “The addition of Lafayette College brings the first liberal arts college to our enterprise. We welcome their participation and are pleased at the increasing breadth and diversity of our membership as we continue our efforts to ensure the future of the cultural record.”
