The City of Chicago Places Its Entire Employee Name and Salary Database Online
Direct to Database (via Chicago’s Data Portal 2.0)
[The database contains a list] of more than 34,200 workers the public can sort by department, name and dollar amount.
Making the highest salary is newly confirmed Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy at $260,004. Making the least — at $1 — is Mark Angelson. He’s a deputy mayor who leads Emanuel’s economic council. Angelson is able to work for the token amount after becoming wealthy as chief executive officer of printing giant R.R. Donnelly & Sons.
The information provides an incomplete picture of how well workers are doing at City Hall because it doesn’t show how long people have worked in their jobs or whether they made overtime.
