Public Statement: German Librarians Show Support for Dale Askey
The Canadian Library Association has shared the full text of a statement by Library and Information in Germany (BID) (umbrella organization for library asssociations in Germany) that expresses their support from McMaster University associate librarian Dale Askey and asks for Mellen Press* to drop the lawsuit against him.

The statement includes this paragaph:
Librarians publishing qualified evaluations of publications reflect the expression of a pluralistic and democratic society. Attempting to suppress the shaping of a public
opinion constitutes a serious offense against our democracy and the free expression of opinion.
* The lawsuit against Dale Askey is being brought by the founder of Mellen Press, Herbert Richardson as opposed to Mellen Press itself. More in this March 8, 2013 infoDOCKET post.
