From the Aberdeen News:
A search is under way for a new state librarian to replace Dan Siebersma.
Siebersma resigned last month. State officials said he didn’t give a reason and didn’t know if he had found a different job.
At the board’s July 25, meeting he issued a report that he called a “budgetstorm watch” for the state library.
He warned that budget cuts might be made and noted the library was operating at its 2000 budget level after a 22 percent reduction in personnel and a 30 percent reduction in funding during recent years.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Education, however, said last week the state library wasn’t recommended for any cuts at a recent internal hearing on its budget proposal for next year.
Daria Bossman was promoted to acting director after Siebersma stepped down.
