NMC Announces Eden Dahlstrom as New Executive Director

Austin, Texas (January 10, 2017) — The New Media Consortium (NMC) announced today that Dr. Eden Dahlstrom will be appointed Executive Director, effective January 30, 2017. With an extensive career in higher education leadership and research, Eden will bring invaluable experience and vision to the organization.

Eden has served as chief research officer at EDUCAUSE, leading the EDUCAUSE Center for Analysis and Research (ECAR) team and managing a vast portfolio of data, research, and analytics initiatives. She earned her Doctorate of Education from University of Southern California. As a widely published researcher and speaker, Eden has contributed significant thought leadership to the field. The NMC is well-positioned to benefit from her commitment to research rigor and methodologies, especially with regards to the Horizon Project.

This leadership transition comes at an opportune time for the organization. Now in its 24^th year, the NMC serves a global community of hundreds of institutional members and thousands of individuals across the higher education, academic and research library, K-12, and museum sectors. With Eden at the helm, there is ample opportunity to provide enhanced resources and programming to the NMC membership that align with the most cutting-edge practices in education. The NMC Horizon Project has charted the spread of innovative models and technology in teaching and learning for the past 15 years; its flagship publications have attracted a readership approaching four million annually in nearly 200 countries. The NMC looks forward to evolving this program and deepening its impact — along with a host of other projects and events — to be as germane as possible to the field.

Eden is joining an accomplished staff with strategic and visionary stewardship from a dedicated board of directors. She will succeed Peggy Snyder, who became the NMC’s interim executive director in May 2016. Peggy has provided tremendous leadership to the NMC, managing organization operations and strategic initiatives. She will support Eden and the team during the transition.
