Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) Selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo

The Ex Libris solutions will enable consortium members to share resources and coordinate services for all resource types

Chicago, IL—June 25, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC), based in the Washington, DC area, has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and Primo® discovery and delivery solution to help fulfill the consortium’s priorities of coordinating collections across all partner institutions (including its high-density Shared Collections Facility) and presenting end-users with a unified view of WRLC’s shared collection. WRLC chose Alma and Primo for their scalability, openness to other systems, rich functionality, and cost-effectiveness. The consortium of nine academic libraries will be migrating from Voyager® and Innovative Interfaces Sierra to the new solutions.

Mark Jacobs, executive director of the Washington Research Library Consortium, said, “Seamless discovery, resource sharing and access are essential for our end-users. Providing a library infrastructure that facilitates sharing resources and services has been the mission of the Washington Research Library Consortium for more than 25 years. Our commitment to the collective management of both print and digital resources requires a library services platform that can manage our large volume of data and transactions. We believe that Alma and Primo have the capacity and the innovative features we need to increase coordination and collaboration within the WRLC and will enhance our ability to work together with our partner universities.”

Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked, “We are pleased to welcome WRLC to the community of over 25 consortia benefiting from Alma and Primo. The mission of the WRLC dovetails with our own: facilitating learning and scholarship through enhanced library management, collaboration, discovery, and access. We are proud that the advanced collaboration capabilities of Alma and Primo will assist WRLC in reaching this goal.”
