IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2020 Will be Held in Dublin, Ireland
From the International Federation of Library Associations:
The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the Library Association of Ireland announce that the 2020 will be held in Dublin, Ireland from 15 – 21 August 2020.
Following the decision in April to postpone Auckland as a WLIC host city to 2022, IFLA undertook a process to identify a new location. The IFLA Governing Board deeply appreciates the efforts of the library associations and cities who quickly investigated possible venues and sponsorship opportunities in order to submit bids.
Given the exceptional circumstances and short timeframe, Dublin’s bid offered an appealing experience for delegates in an outstanding venue.
“We look forward to welcoming IFLA and international delegates to Ireland for the first time” said President of the Library Association of Ireland, Marian Higgins. IFLA Secretary General, Gerald Leitner, said “Dublin is a historic and literary city and with the enthusiasm of the National Committee, all signs point to an excellent congress in an exciting location.”
