1. Center For Research Libraries (CRL) to Purchase Five New Collections
Items approved for purchase include: Al-Ahram, the second oldest newspaper title in Egypt; the transcripts of BBC world broadcasts from 1947-1997 from various world areas; the archives of the Political and Secret Department of Britain’s India Office concerning the emerging Saudi Arabia Kingdom from 1914-1939; Le canard enchaîné and Charlie Hebdo, two French political satire newspapers; and a selection of nine contemporary newspaper titles from Iran.
