Japan: Flood-Hit Library in Okayama to Discard 127,000 Damaged Books

The city-run Mabi Library here will have to discard all of its 127,000 books that were damaged in the downpours and flooding that hit western Japan earlier this month.
“The library is so messed up that it looks like it entered a giant washing machine,” said Hiromi Fujii, 58, director of the library located in the Mabicho district of the city. “I am so sad that the center of Mabicho’s culture is in such a situation.”
