Research Tools: C-SPAN Video Library Commencement Speech Collection Closes in on 850 Speeches to Watch, Keyword Search
College commencement season is underway so it’s a good time for a reminder about C-SPAN Video Library commencement speech collection.
As of May 10, 2018 the collection provides users with 844 commencement speeches to view online and keyword search (using a transcript generated from the closed-captioning). New entries are added regularly (often within hours of the address being given). With a few exceptions the collection begins in the mid to late 1980s.
Numerous ways to limit and sort results are available.
Finally, all of the videos in this collection as well as all of the videos in the C-SPAN Video Library provide a feature where users can easily create and share “custom clips” of the material.
You’ll need a C-SPAN Video Library login (free).
At this time the C-SPAN Video Library contains more than 234,000 hours of material.
