Academic Publishing: Brill Signs National Licensing Deal with Association of Universities in the Netherlands
From Brill:
Scholarly publisher Brill has reached an agreement with the VSNU – the Association of Universities in the Netherlands – with an emphasis on Open Access.
As part of the agreement, scholars and students of ten Dutch universities will be granted access to Brill’s complete journal portfolio. The journal package includes over 240 titles in the Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, and Biology.
For part of the journal portfolio, Brill is moving towards Open Access: scholars affiliated to a Dutch institution are allowed to publish in Open Access in Brill’s journals in the fields of International Law and International Relations, without any additional fees. The journal selection consists of 40 leading titles in these fields. Measured by the number of journal articles, approximately one-third of the journal articles of scholars working for Dutch universities will be published in Open Access with Brill. The agreement is valid for 2017 and 2018. As a result of this collaboration, Brill is the first Dutch publisher to make full Open Access available for all its Law journals for eligible authors.
