New Article: “Delayed Retirements and the Youth Movement Among ARL Library Professionals”

The first in a series of articles by Stanley Wilder, dean of libraries at Louisiana State University, examines delayed retirements and the coming “youth movement” among professional staff in ARL member libraries. Wilder begins this piece by observing, “Library professionals have never been older.” That is about to change, according to Wilder, who goes on to discuss how and when these demographic changes are likely to occur.
“Delayed Retirements and the Youth Movement among ARL Library Professionals” is the first installment in the Workforce Trends in Research Libraries series by Stanley Wilder to be published by the Association of Research Libraries in 2017.
