Canada: New Charlottetown Bookstore Acts as Library For Immigrants

Family & Bookland, a new Charlottetown business, may look like an ordinary bookstore, but inside it’s a library and gathering place for the Island’s Chinese, immigrant and local communities to come together.

[Jia] Wang moved to Charlottetown from Beijing last April, and it didn’t take her long to figure out she wanted to create a space that would bring the Island’s multicultural communities together.

The store operates on a membership system, and costs $15/month, or $140 for the full year.
