Public Libraries: “Queens Public Library Must Pay for Axed Boss’ Defense”

The Queens Public Library has to foot the bill for the defense of its ex-chief — who is accused of turning library coffers into his personal piggy bank, a Brooklyn federal judge ruled Thursday.
Former president and CEO Thomas Galante – who sued the library last year after he was canned over his questionable expenses – is entitled under state law to legal funds in his defense against the library’s countersuit against him.
Galante will receive an advancement of “reasonable litigation expenses,” as well as reimbursements for legal costs incurred to date, Judge Allyne Ross said in her order.
