Reference: Campaign Finance: MapLight Launches “Dark Money Watch” Info Website
From MapLight:
The MapLight team is excited to bring you Dark Money Watch, a brand new website to highlight the rise of undisclosed political spending, known as “dark money,” in U.S. elections.
Dark money comes from groups that are not required to disclose their donors and pays for ads and other efforts to influence elections. With the source of the funds unclear, voters lose their ability to know who’s influencing their elected officials.
Dark Money Watch will serve as a central hub for information on dark money. The website includes descriptions of how undisclosed political spending works, recent news coverage, profiles of key dark money groups, and tools and data from our partner groups to research their expenditures.
