Douglas County, Oregon: “Latest Library Budget Cut The Harshest, Officials Say”

The Douglas County Library System continues to face budget cuts, but the system’s director says they are still optimistic about the future.
Though Douglas County has been reducing the overall budget for its library system over the last 10 years, officials say the most recent cut was the harshest – it received a 25 percent cut for the current fiscal year.

Until the taxing issue is decided, local libraries are continuing on half-a-million dollars’ worth of grants, money which will last only until December 31.
