UK: Amazon.com Lockers in Public Libraries (Case Study)
The UK Government’s, “Libraries Shaping the Future: Report and Case Studies” material (first released on December 16, 2015), added a brief case study today with info/outcomes/lessons learned about how libraries in Chichester, Horsham and Crawley installed Amazon.com lockers in 2012.
Amazon Lockers allow customers to pick-up packages vs. having them left at home/office.
From the Outcomes Achieved Section of the Case Study:
The lockers:
provide a regular income for these libraries
are a popular service for customers
have no impact on staff time
are used by between 80 and 100 people in each location a week
bring people into the library
are used by non and existing library users; it is very difficult to assess if there is much crossover
