New Jersey: “Paterson Schools Preparing to Open With Fewer Librarians”

Eleven librarians were among the school district employees who received layoff notices this year and city educators say they are making adjustments to minimize the impact of those cuts.
Regular teachers will be assigned to work at the libraries in schools where those positions were eliminated, said district spokeswoman Terry Corallo. “Although there have been reductions made to our librarian staff, none of our elementary libraries will be closed,” she said.

Paterson’s language arts scores are among the lowest in the state.
