Nebraska: Omaha Library Supporters Asking City Council For $850,000 More Than What’s Requested in Proposed Budget

Library patrons and supporters asked Omaha City Council members on Tuesday to spend more on the libraries, while two library board members said they were satisfied with the mayor’s funding recommendation.
They spoke Tuesday in front of the council at an hourlong public hearing on the city’s 2016 budget.
Mayor Jean Stothert has proposed an $817 million budget that includes an increase of about 1.85 percent in day-to-day spending.
