Canada: Windsor Public Library Unveils Open-Concept Living Room at Downtown Location
From the Windsor Star:
The Windsor Public Library’s central location unveiled a new, open-concept living room with tables, seating and a TV for people to hangout, watch the news, crack open something to read or just surf the web. The unveiling of the room kicked off with a Scrabble tourney Saturday afternoon.
“This is no longer where you just run in, grab your books, and run out,” said library CEO Kitty Pope.

“We said okay, let’s start with that fact that we’ve got no money,” Pope said about planning the room.
She said the only thing they spent money on was the television. “We’ll have news, weather, Olympics,” Pope said. “And every second Monday evening, we’ll have city council on. People are always surprised, but there are always lots of folks who don’t have TV or don’t have cable.”
