National Library of France (BNF) Awards Three-Year Contract to Digitise 150,000 Items For Gallica Digital Library
From telecompaper:
French business process outsourcing company Numen Digital has won a three-year contract from national library BNF [National Library of France] to digitise some 150,000 works. The work will strengthen the catalogue of the BNF’s Gallica online library. Numen will fulfill the contract with support from two sub-contractors, Jouve and Centre des Archives du Nord. The works will be digitised in colour at a 400 dpi resolution, with a guaranteed text and OCR rate of 95 to 99 percent.
Numen Digital will open digitization centers in the François-Mitterrand Library in Paris and in Bussy-Saint-Georges.
This mechanically translated report (via ITRnews.com) says that at least 10% of the digitized material will be available in EPUB3 and/or Daisy formats.
