The new library will feature conference rooms and reading terraces that lead up “like a landscape garden” to the upper reading rooms. Below this there will be five storeys of secure archive space for material relating to the Duchy of Luxembourg.
The archive material will be stored at a stable 18°C with thick walls utilising thermal mass and natural ventilation. Externally, it will be protected by a rough gabion encasement using stones dug out of the basement level.
