School/Public Library Partnership in Colorado: “New Anythink Library Will Be Located on Thornton School Campus”
From the Denver Post:
The award-winning Anythink library system is ready to open a new library this summer in Thornton.
The new 9,388-square-foot space will be located on the new Mapleton Public School’s Skyview Campus at 8990 York St.
“We are excited about this innovative mixed-use partnership between Anythink Libraries and Mapleton Public Schools to offer public library service in the original part of Thornton,” Thornton Mayor Heidi Williams said in a statement. “Integrating the public library on the new high school campus will be an exciting opportunity to bring our community and our schools together.”
And even though the library will be located on a school campus, it still will be open to the public.
The Anythink library system serving mostly Adams County is known for creative engagement and for more closely resembling a welcoming bookstore. The Dewey Decimal System was dropped for sections labeled by genres such as those used in retail, and the district no longer has late fees.
