Oregon: Multnomah County Library Financing District Passes Easily

Multnomah County [metro Portland] voters approved a request Tuesday night to form a permanent financing district for the county’s library system.

Passage of the library district marks a milestone in how the county will finance a system made up of the main downtown library and 18 branches.
“This wasn’t a narrow victory, it was a resounding victory,” said Jeff Cogen, Multnomah County commission chairman. “People in Multnomah County love their libraries, and they showed that tonight.”
