U.S. Federal Government Open Data Policy Coming November 23rd

Federal Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel will release a governmentwide open data policy on Nov. 23, he said Oct. 11 while speaking at the World Government Summit on Open Source in Washington, D.C.

As part of the policy, Data.gov will become the central repository to access all live data at agencies, he said.

He added that these updates to Data.gov will provide a lightweight way to obtain analytics and crawl agency websites to pull all data into the system.
