Georgia Secretary of State Doubles Down on Archives’ Lockdown Being Best Cut to Make

[Georgia] Secretary of State Brian Kemp reiterated Monday night that the lockdown of the state archives was the best of the bad options available in his mandate to cut costs.

“The archives decision was one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make,” Kemp, an Athens Republican, said. “But it was one that was least impactful to Georgians.”
He noted the other tasks his office must accomplish, from voter registration and anti-fraud enforcement to corporate and professional permitting, all with the same shrinking budget
