Big Bucks! Mystery Donor leaves $1M to a Connecticut Public Library
From the AP (via NECN)
The Republican-American of Waterbury reports the surprise donation from the estate of 90-year-old Lu Burke more than doubled the Southbury Public Library’s endowment fund.
Library officials say Burke never served on the library’s board and none of the employees knew her, but they’ve learned she had worked as a copy reader for Life Magazine and later as a copy editor at The New Yorker.
The total donation was $1,083,669.31.
