Google is buying the venerable Zagat survey, which is the original local reviews provider and has been in business for more than 30 years. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Zagat co-founders Tim and Nina Zagat said in a blog post that they “will remain active in the business as co-Chairs, helping to ensure that the combination of Zagat’s and Google’s assets and capabilities will maximize our product quality and growth.”
By the way, the acquisition means that Google is, at least for now, in the wine business selling wines online via the Zagat Wine Club.
